Washington Trip 2014 - Staying at Nana's House

Time to get back to blogging...
The second week we were in Washington we spent with the Christensen grandparents.
They have an awesome backyard so we spent a lot of time out there.

The girls loved helping their Grandpa Garth feed the fish in his pond.

Nana got the kids bubbles and they had a blast running up and down the hill and twirling with them.

Can you spot Eli in the garden?

Eli was rolling down the hill like his sisters and got stuck.
(He isn't touching the rock like it appears in the picture.)
He kept trying to sit up and couldn't get his body to sit up while facing up the hill,
finally he figured out that he had to roll to the side. It was hilarious to witness.

Sean's dad loves playing with his grandkids. It's fun to watch.

We read a lot of books while we were there. It was fun to read the books Sean read as a kid.
And we even got to take home a few with us.

Eli loved playing with this old train and with a vintage car track.

I should have been more diligent in trying to get a good picture of the kids with their grandparents,
because the one time I tried, I failed. Oh well. The "outtakes" are kinda hilarious and so real life.

Here's a view of the back of the house and part of the garden.
I'm not sure when they painted it but the house is green now,
it wasn't the last time I was here (2 1/2 years ago).

And there is a fire pit now.
It's fun to have but it sure makes me nervous with little kids.

Sean caught a frog in the backyard.

Sean's dad trying to redirect Eli from the garden, he just wanted to play in it.

The hot tub was a hit.
The girls loved it and wanted to go in every night.

Nana turned the temperature down and added some hose water for good measure.
It felt like a warm bath.

I couldn't resist taking pictures of the girls while they were sleeping one night.
They were all over the place.

Nana gave the girls a bunch of paper to make doll outfits one afternoon.
At home they are constantly making clothes for their dolls and stuffed animals
out of whatever they can find.

Eli loved playing with this little golf cart
and he thought that it was a lot of fun driving it under the table.

The girls loved checking the mail.

Cooling off one afternoon.
We also stripped the kids naked and let them run around.
(They were dirty from playing.)

More rough and tumble play.

The girls were so excited to ride in Nana's convertible.

We went out to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Ixtapa.

We roasted s'mores while we were there.

Lexi's marshmallows got burned. She was not happy.
And it turns out that my girls would rather eat their marshmallows plain instead of warmed up.

The kids rolling down the hill. I love Eli in this picture.

More hot tub time.

Lexi liked to see how long she could hold her breath under water. Her best time was 10 seconds.

One night after everyone was in bed, Sean and I had our own bonfire.
It was so nice just being together and talking the night away.

Sean had fun with the fire.
He got a stick on fire and  waved it around while I tried to figure out how to get a good picture.
We shared a lot of laughs.

The kids all got a turn to ride on the lawn mower.

Can you see a coyote in the distance?
There were several of them that would come into the yard at all times of the day.
One morning we saw two pups in the yard playing together.

I absolutely love being with family. So many great memories were made.
I know that I'll treasure these experiences and these pictures.
