Avery's 4 Year Check-Up

I have been dreading Avery's 4 year check-up for a long time.

Because that's when our pediatrician gives the kids their kindergarten immunizations.

I scheduled it at a time of the day when Sean could take her.

And then he ended up going out of town that morning!

So I had to take her.

She did great though.

She had to give a urine sample which she thought was strange.

She got to wear a hospital gown which she didn't like.

She had to get her eyes checked and she couldn't seem to pay attention.

They said she had 20/30 vision, which is normal for this age.

But who really knows since she wasn't cooperating.

 

 

She actually let the doctor examine her and touch her.

When she was all done we put her regular clothes on

and then Avery was ready to bolt out the door and go get stickers.

She didn't know she had to wait around to get shots. I hadn't told her that part.

Eli could knew what was coming though. He screamed as soon as the doctor left.

When the nurse came in, I told Avery she was getting shots. She wasn't happy.

I held her on my lap and held down her arms.

She screamed but as soon as it was over and she got a prize and a sticker she was happy.

Thank heavens we don't have to do that again until she goes to middle school!

Avery's 4th Birthday Interview



Avery's 4th Birthday

 Last month Miss Avery turned 4 years old.

She's growing up so fast!

We didn't do a party for Avery last year so this was the year.

She was so excited.

She got a new dress, a tiara and a birthday girl ribbon to wear.

 

I'm not into big parties or themes really.

Our theme was summer/ spring/ being outside, I guess.

We had the party at our complex at the pavilion.

We bought a piñata.

Avery picked out a unicorn.

 



For party favors, I bought these shovels from Ikea for $1.

 



We started out with a card making station.

All of the kids made Avery cards. She loved it.

 



Then the kids chased bubbles.

It was really windy so the bubbles went everywhere.

 



I also bought all the kids their own little thing of bubbles.

 



Next was chalk. The kids covered our basket ball court with their artwork.

 



After that it was time to line up for the piñata.

 

This is Stellan, Avery's crush.

 

The piñata didn't last long. Rowan broke it. He has in line right before Lexi.

I shouldn't be surprised, I guess, it was only $8.

 For dessert, I made Oreo dirt cups.

The kids got to put their own gummy worms in.

They loved it.

And I loved it because it was way easier than baking a cake.

 

Then we did presents and gave the kids their shovels.

They all ran to the playground with them.

She got an aurora dress up dress finally.

She's been wanting one for a long time now.

But Aurora isn't the most popular princess so it was hard for me to find one that I liked.

Thankfully the Disney Store came out with a new one and I was able to get it on sale. Score!

 

Avery got this outfit for her doll Ariel.

She also got some birthday money which she used to buy Arielle a swimsuit and a tea set.

For dessert she wanted ice cream.

So I didn't have to bake a cake again.

 

 



Manti Utah

I have been looking forward to visiting Manti for a while now.

As soon as we knew we were going to Vegas,

I knew it would be the perfect time to make this a stop on our drive home.

We pulled into town at dinner time.

We went to a local pizza shop across the street from the tabernacle.

We walked around while they made our food.

 

Don't they look thrilled about getting their picture taken?

 



Then we took our food and went and had a picnic across the street from the temple.

 

 

The view was awesome.

 



 

 When we had eaten, we walked around the temple grounds.

It's such a beautiful temple.

 

 On one of the sides of the temple is a huge hill where they have the temple pageant in June.

I really want to go to that.



 

On the side of the temple, in the back, is this large stair case.

 



Behind the temple is a little forest.

I love visiting temples we have never been to before.

This was worth the longer drive.
