January - Ruby's Hand Injury

After we were done with strep going around our family and after weeks of me being stuck inside
due to my surgery recovery, we were getting cabin fever.
So the girls went to a friends house to play
and Sean and I took the younger three kids to a local furniture store.
I wanted to look at couches and I thought it would a good place for me to go
since there would be lots of seating options if I got tired.
Honestly, I would have been happy going anywhere. I just wanted to get out of the house!
Eli and Ruby were running around the couches and Eli pushed Ruby over on the ground.
We didn't see it happen. But when she wouldn't get up or stop crying, we started to worry.
She screamed for 30 minutes straight while we held her on a couch.
She also wouldn't move her arm or let us touch it.
That's when we knew something was wrong.
We dropped Eli off at a friends and then headed to Instacare.
Finally she stopped crying. But then she started up again once the doctor wanted to examine her.

We were feeling like we had the worst luck. I still wasn't even able to walk,
and we had just dealt with strep and now this. It just felt like too much.

She got an x-ray taken. But because she is so little they wanted an Orthopedic doctor at Primary's
to review it. We waited forever to get a review.

The final verdict was that she sprained her pinkie finger.
She got a splint put on which she hated.

We were told the next day she could take her splint off.
Which she did all by herself as soon as we got home from church.
After that she never complained about her finger again.
I was shocked and so grateful!

That week two sisters in our ward contacted me and asked if they could bring us dinner.
Just knowing that others were thinking of us, really touched me.
It helped me to not feel so cursed but to see that we are so loved.

November 2018 - Ruby's 4th Birthday

Ruby's 4th Birthday was Sunday November 25th.
We let her open one present before we went to church.

She played with her new Barbies all morning before church.

I look a few pictures of the birthday girl all dressed up.

She was being so cooperative and smiley.

And we snapped a family picture before heading to church.

After dinner it was time for presents again.

Ruby doesn't love cake, so we just did ice cream.
It was simple and easy and she was happy.

I can't believe my baby girl is four!

October 2018 - Ruby's First Field Trip

In October Ruby had her first field trip. Her class went to the Fire Station.
Here she is all ready to go in her class shirt.

Her class learned some fire safety. Ty was especially interested.

At the end of the presentation, they asked if anyone had any questions.
I raised my hand and asked where I could buy their calendar.
That got a lot of laughs!
After that we headed outside to see the fire trucks.

These pictures of Ty remind me of some I took of Eli
when we went on Avery's preschool field trip to a fire station.

Ty just ran around touching everything excitedly.

September 2018 - Trip to the Zoo

There was a Friday in September that there was no kindergarten. And Sean wasn't working.
So we took our younger three kids to the zoo.

Ty loves elephants. He was so excited to see them.

Here he is making the elephant sound and raising his arm like an elephant trunk.

The zoo was starting to decorate for Halloween.
We found a skeleton bunny and the kids thought Lexi would like to see it.
So we took a picture.

The seals or sea lions (I am not sure which) were a big hit. They are so fun to watch swim.

The kids thought this sleeping polar bear was so funny.

The tiger was so active. He kept pacing back and forth looking at us.
He probably thought we looked delicious.

It was a fun day and so nice to make more time with my younger kids.
