Rapunzel and Cinderella

 Originally I told the girls to just pick out one of their dress up dresses to be their Halloween costumes.

But last week when we went to the Disney Store, we saw that all the princess dresses were 25% off.

Making them nearly the price of the cheapo Wal-Mart dress up dresses. 

Sean and I couldn't pass up the sale.

So we bought the girls dresses without them knowing.

This week our Family Home Evening lesson was on being happy.

Being happy for other people when good things happen to them and not being jealous.

We practiced being happy for each other.

I gave Avery a piece of candy and not Lexi.

I gave Lexi a something and not Avery.

And we talked about being happy for the other person.

Then I gave Avery the Cinderella dress up dress and told her "Happy Half Birthday!"

Lexi did so good not getting upset.

She smiled and said that she was happy for Avery.

Although, I could see she was getting a little teary eyed.

We told Lexi how proud we were of her and how great she was being.

Then Sean brought out the Rapunzel dress for Lexi.

I took these pictures of the girls in their costumes yesterday

 because the weather just keeps getting colder and winder.

So I figured I should take their pictures while it was still a nice outside.

I think they turned out pretty cute.

...

The frying pan was Lexi's idea.

Too bad we still don't have Lexi's Rapunzel wig we used for her Rapunzel pictures in the spring.

It got ratty and gross right after she got her pictures taken.

But I love her hair in these pictures so it worked out just fine.

Avery is just sitting so perfectly in this next picture, she really does look like a princess.

Avery's Half Birthday

 Last month, while I was reading the chapter about fun in "Deliberate Motherhood" 
(I still need to blog about this book, it's awesome!)

I decided that I wanted to start celebrating Half Birthdays.

Avery's Half Birthday was Monday, the 28th.

The six months since Avery's birthday have gone by fast!

Avery was so excited to be celebrating her.

She put on this little party hat I bought for Eli's cake smashing pictures (and forgot to use) 

and wanted her picture taken (she's well trained).

Later that day, I took Avery outside to take her picture in the leaves.

The ones in front of our apartment building have finally fallen.

(The leave pictures I posted earlier weren't in front of our building.)

Avery wanted pink frosting with pink sprinkles and pink candles.

She's easy to please.

Which is awesome since I'm definitely not a baker.

The girls are already talking about celebrating Sean's Half Birthday next month.

Costumes and Candy

 Last night we went Trunk-or-Treating.

Avery decided that she wanted to go as Tinkerbell.

And Lexi picked to go as Rapunzel.

The girls wanted Eli to wear this duck costume that I bought when Avery was a baby but we never used.

But he was too big for it.

So Eli went as a BYU Football Player.

Eli had a good time and his costume was a hit.

In fact, several people gave him extra candy because they liked it so much.

Today, I took the girls to Macey's (our local grocery store) for some trick-or-treating.

Lexi wanted to go as a cheerleader.

She originally wore this costume the Halloween when she was 2.

And it still fits!

Avery wanted to be Minnie Mouse.

It's a good thing we have a huge dress up collection!

At Macey's there we some trunks with candy and some activities for the kids.
