Easter weekend was right in the middle of our spring break.
And we were healthy!
The weather was a little crazy a few days but the kids spent every minute they could outside.
We stay home for spring break.
We stay home for spring break.
It was a nice break.
One day, our friends the Russell's came over.
We met in Rexburg back when Lexi and Rachael were just 6 months old.
Erin is an expert some pretzel maker, so she made our lunch.
And I made dessert, bunny cakes!
We let the kids do all the decorating and they had so much fun.
The day before Easter, we always do our Easter baskets and egg hunt.
We reserve Easter Sunday for Christ.
Saturday morning, once all the kids were awake, they went downstairs to look for their baskets.
The kids were so excited about everything they got in their baskets.
Lexi got new high heeled shoes, flips flops, a journal, bubbles, body wash, socks and more.
Avery got sunglasses, new church shoes, flip flops, a purse, bubbles and body wash, socks and more.
Eli got four new Disney Cars, flip flops, bubbles, sunglasses, orange basketball shorts and more.
Ruby got a toy abc tablet, socks, bubbles and more.
And the kids got new BYU clothes.
Ruby loves purses so she was so excited about Avery's new purse.
After the kids were dressed and emptied their baskets, it was time for the egg hunt.
I had wanted to do the egg hunt in our unfinished backyard.
I thought it would be funny. Plus it's the only year we're gonna have a dirt and rock backyard.
Sean didn't like that idea. He want to do the hunt inside.
He got his way but only because it snowed that morning.
The kids started collecting eggs one at a time, youngest to oldest.
Here they are ready to go...
Ruby's eggs were filled with Goldfish crackers and were all on the rug.
Lexi got the "dirt" egg this year. Since all the dirt was covered in snow, we improvised.
I filled an egg with oatmeal. I couldn't do without this childhood tradition.
...
We're all dressed up in BYU clothes because that day was the football team's spring scrimmage day.
Originally, we all planned on going but Sean just ended up going with his friend Trent.
The kids and I went and played at our friends, the Boyer's house in Lehi.
I made bunny cakes for the kids at the Boyers.
They were a huge hit. I love carrying on this tradition.
Every Easter, I made these cakes with my mom.
Easter morning was hard.
We got home late from Lehi and it was delight savings.
And Ruby was up for hours screaming the night before. (Teething is the worst!)
My parents bought the girls matching dresses for Easter.
Ruby did not want to wake up. She was so crabby.
She wouldn't even let me put her down on the couch for pictures.
After church we tried to take some pictures...
(When you see a cute picture of my kiddos on the couch, what you don't see is the messy flooring.)
Not cooperating. That seems about right.
That afternoon I took a nap and woke up with a nasty stomach bug.
I was sick for days after that. Really!? Sick again!?
So we skipped the fancy dinner and the heart felt Christ centered conversations
and just survived until bedtime.
Life these past few months have felt like just trying to survive
with four little kids and so much sickness!
