A lot has happened since I last blogged about our backyard.
You can see that post
HERE.
After we got the dirt work done, it rained and rained and rained.
So we had to wait a while for more progress.
Eventually the sun came out and the dirt dried up.
The next thing to happen was getting our fence post put in.
Eli loved watching the machinery come into our backyard.
Next the trenches were dug for our sprinkler system.
At this point our yard looked worse than before.
Sean installed the sprinklers himself.
He watched loves of YouTube videos and research online and talked to several people.
And he figured it out.
i was impressed.
Not bad for a boy from Seattle who knew nothing about sprinklers.
...
Then our trenches were back filled.
And the topsoil was delivered.
The panels on our back fence were installed professionally.
(That's what the neighbors behind us wanted.)
The neighbors on the East of us wanted to install the fence panels.
So Sean and Kyler installed them together.
They made a great team and figured it out pretty quickly and we saved lots of money.
Sean and I spent a lot of time racking up rocks.
We were sore for days.
Eli just loved playing in the dirt.
We have were also given to panels for the fencing on our west side.
We're installing those ourselves too.
The smaller fence at the back of the house is going to be a picket fence.
And the bigger fence at the front will be the 6 foot privacy fence.
And in between will be our garden.
Here's the topsoil on spread and the yard ready for sod.
Tuesday the 17th the sod was delivered.
It was two days before Sean's birthday so we called it one of his presents.
The big girls were at school and Ruby went and played at the Robinson's.
Sean was working from home that day and took two hours off.
A few ladies from the neighborhood came and helped us lay the sod.
When Sean was getting the sprinkler heads on, Lexi accidentally got sprayed.
She loved it.
Then all the kids wanted to get wet.
Having sod in our yard is amazing!
It looks so different.
There's Sean working on getting the sprinkler heads in.
The kids have loved being able to use the backyard again.
When the trenches dug and the topsoil was being laid we told them they could only go on the patio.
They can't go on the grass yet but they are still having fun outside.
Ruby is the only one who is allowed to go on the grass.
And she is loving the backyard!
We got two chairs for Sean and I to sit on.
On the east side of the house we had a compact kind of gravel brought it.
I think it's called Lime Fines.
It's a crushed lime stone.
Looking outside and seeing my backyard makes me so happy!
I know we're gonna make a lot of memories out there.
We still have a lot more to do but we sure have made a lot of progress.
