We went a little after 7 pm just as the sun was setting.
Lexi was thrilled to go see the temple all lit up at night.
On the way there she asked if we could have a picnic.

We sat on the grass and cuddled and sang primary songs and looked up at the stars.
It was a really memorable night.

I'm not sure if Lexi was just excited to be up so late or what.
But as we were walking down one isle, Lexi looked at a lady with the cart next to us

Lexi said this to Sean tonight after repeatedly asking him for some bread.

(At this point I was done asking questions but then Lexi insisted that I asked her questions about herself.)
Mom: What's the funniest thing Lexi ever did?
Lexi: I showed Avery how to jump on my bed. I told ever to bounce on the couch.
Mom: Why do you love Lexi?
Lexi: Cause she's nice.

I always try to buy clothes a year in advance on sale.

where we usually shop.
I realized that Lexi can fit into clothes in the girls' section!
It was exciting but made me a little sad that she's getting so big.
...
Lexi asked me to pull out her CTR ring and mine so we could wear them.

Today while at our pool, I asked Lexi if she wanted me to take her little
floaty jacket off while she played in the shallow end.
She told me no because she was pretending to be a mermaid and the floaty was her bra.
(It has a band that goes around her chest, so it makes sense.)
She told me that mermaids wear bra's. Thanks Disney.
...
While cuddling on my bed, Lexi randomly says to me, "I was born in a c-section."
I've told her before that her birth was special and different and was called a c-section.

remember to take my scriptures out of my scripture bag and read them.
Can you help me
remember?”
…
“Dad turn this apple
juice into water.”
…
“Mom, I can’t hear
very good. I need ear contacts. And I’ll take them out at night.”

Today before getting
an ultrasound and finding out the baby’s gender,
I reminded Lexi that
the baby could be a boy and she reminded me, “I love Flynn Rider for a boy not
Eli.”
May 21, 2012
Today at Wal-Mart I
put some generic brand Honey Bunches of Oats in the cart.
Lexi saw it and said,
“This is wonderful. Thank you Mother!”
…
Today Sean told Lexi
that before she was born he had planned on calling her Alex.
He asked her if he
could call her Alex now.
She said, “You can call
me that but you can’t name me it.”
May 20, 2012
Our second day living
in Utah we were driving around exploring the area.
We asked Lexi if she
wanted to go see her new temple. She said yes.
As soon as the temple
came into view, Lexi gasped and said, “It’s beautiful and wonderful. And I love
it.”
May 18, 2012
“I want to steal the
baby for myself. And I will love it. I want that baby now.”
…
While driving through
Colorado, on our drive to move to Utah, we see lots of pastures and cows.
Lexi says excitedly,
“This state is really fun.”
May 15, 2012
“I really want to be
a mommy so much. I want my own baby.”
…
Today we were talking
about baby names again.
Lexi told me that she
still likes Sadie Sue for a girl.
And then she said she
likes Dairy and Flynn Rider for a boy.
I asked her where she
heard the names Dairy from. She told me that the Beast says it.
And I asked her when.
She was when he was getting ready for the Ball.
Then I realized that
she was saying Daring.
Lumiere actually says
to the Beast, “You must be bold. Daring.”
May 12, 2012
Today Lexi asked me
what we would do if the baby was a boy.
I told her that we
would go buy boy clothes and toys.
She replied, “Boy
toys are so expensive. All those cars cost too much.”
May 10, 2012
(While driving on the
freeway)
Lexi: “Why is that
truck carrying weeds?”
Me: “Those are palm
trees.”
Lexi: “Those look like
weeds.”
…
Today Lexi referred
to her cup as a “Drinker.”
She was just trying
to be funny.
However, she does
call a Pez dispenser a “Pezer.”
And she really thinks
that’s what they are called.
May 7, 2012
“I want my baby to be
chubby.” (Referring to our 3rd child being born in October)
…
Me: “Lexi you look
cute in your new dress.”
Lexi: “Mom, I look
amazing!”
May 8, 2012
Tonight after dinner
Lexi asked me if she could have dessert. I asked her what she wanted. She told
me she didn't know. I suggested, "How about a kiss from Mom." And she
replied, "A kiss from Dad would be a great dessert." (The girls haven't
seen much of their dad lately. Sean has his next CPA test tomorrow and has been
most of his free time studying. So time with him or a kiss from him would be a
real treat.)
…
"I can’t walk on my
foot. It’s too wrinkly."
May 9, 2012
I told Lexi she
couldn't have something that she wanted so she was upset. I asked her,
"where's your smile?" She replied, "It already moved to Utah and
is living in our new apartment." What a funny girl. I guess we won't be
seeing her smile until next week then.
April 26, 2012
Lexi informed me
today that we need to move the fish food container which is sitting right next
to the fish tank. She told me, "that's just teasing the fish."
April 18, 2012
While walking to the
front door, Lexi informs me, "I need some vitamin D. I'm going
outside." I'm laying on the couch trying to rest. Lexi looks at me and
says,"The door is locked. You can open that Sweetie."
April 4, 2012
Lexi informed me that
if that baby is a boy she wants to name it Dairy. She told me: "That name
would be awesome." I prefer her girl name instead, Sadie Sue. Either way,
I'm not sure a 3 year old should be allowed to name babies.
…
Lexi's quote of the
day. While I was cleaning this morning she asked me, "Mom, why do you do
all of the work and Dad doesn't do any?" I just had to laugh. And then I
tried to explain to her that Dad goes to work and she just doesn't see him
there.
Easter Weekend 2012
Lexi started asking us all sorts of questions about the Easter Bunny.
How does he get into our house?
Who puts the candy in the eggs?
Will he wake me up?
...
Lexi gave her first talk in Primary...
(Holding up a picture of Sean's mom.)
This is my Grammy.
She got cancer and lost her hair.
Now she's in Heaven.
We miss her.
(Now holding up a picture of Christ.)
This is Jesus Christ.
He's our Savior.
He died and was resurrected.
Now He lives again.
So we will all live again.
I know that I will see my Grammy again.
And this is why we celebrate Easter.

I just put the girls
in bed. We read stories about having a baby and talked about our baby. The
girls hugged and kissed my belly and said good night to their baby. And Lexi
prayed for her new baby. I love having two little girls who want to be little
mothers to our new baby.
March 2012
Lexi discovered that she loves water balloon fights at a ward party and
has since had several more fights with her dad and sister.

March 19, 2012
We just put the girls
in bed and through the wall I heard the girls say, "I love you. Night
Night." to each other. Melted my heart.
Winter and Spring 2012
Lexi pronounces her letter F like a P.
So she says pood for food.
And past for fast.
January 2012
We got a fish tank. I'm not sure if Sean or Lexi was more excited.
Lexi gave all of our fish princess names.
The three gold fish are Cinderella, Belle and Jasmine.
The silly black fish with really big eyes is Rapunzel.
And the two snails are Pocahontas and Ariel.
...
Lexi started going to Primary and the Sunbeams class.
She was so excited.
I took her to Dessert Book to pick out her own scripture bag.
She also pick out her very own "primary necklace" as she calls it.
And she also got several wallet sized pictures of the Savior and some temples to put in her bag.
...
This month we decided to give Lexi an allowance.
She has chores she has to do in order to earn it, which are:
making her bed, getting dressed and putting her clothes away, cleaning up her toys, being nice to Avery, setting and clearing the table, putting away the clean utensils and making sure the fish get fed.
She gets to put a sticker on the calendar each day that she does her chores.
If she gets stickers four out of the seven days of the week that's good enough.
She gets paid on Sean's pay days.
She knows that she has to give 10% to tithing (which she was so excited to pay today)
and put 10% into savings.
...
This month Lexi got a new big girl bed (a twin bed) with princess sheets.

Lexi was so excited to be the birthday girl's big sister
and help blow out the candle and help open presents.

October 9, 2010
Yesterday we went to McCall's Pumpkin Patch out in Moriarty, it was about an hour drive.
We thought Lexi would have a blast and we were so excited to go. Reality: Lexi was a pill!!!
She was excited about all the fun things we did there but never wanted to leave what she was doing to go try something new. She couldn't handle the transitions.
I'm not sure what her deal was, she is normally not such a beast.
The first thing we did was let Lexi ride this little Cow Train. And then she never wanted to leave it.
Last year we got great family pictures at a pumpkin patch and this year I had vision of all four of us smiling sitting on some hay with pumpkins all around us. It didn't happened.
That's life with a two year old.
October 2010
I've been trying to teach Lexi that Avery is her best friend. When I ask her who her best friend is she usually now says Avery but still says, "Daddy" or "Addie" sometimes.
October 5, 2010
We decided that we weren't ready for potty training. So we're taking a break from it.
Every time I asked Lexi if she needed to go potty, she got upset and said no.
She never actually used her potty, just had accidents on the floor.
She did however go through her entire nap without an accident in her under ware.
Anyway, it was too much stress plus I just bought her a huge pack of diapers from Costco.
So I'm not in a huge hurry right now.
October 2, 2010
Today was the official start of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
We didn't get up at 5 am so that we could make it to the park at 7 am.
We just got up at 7 am and went to a field a few miles from Balloon Fiesta Park. It was still a great show. We watched from the back of our van as 500 hot air balloons slowly filled the sky. An amazing site!
Lexi LOVES seeing hot air balloons in the sky all the time (one of the best parts about living in ABQ)
but seeing hundreds all at once was so exciting for her.
A balloon landed right in front of our van! And Lexi even got to touch it!

We keep talking about Halloween around here and Lexi is starting to get excited.
I decided to kick off the month with some Halloween art work (ghost).
The ghost artwork was following by ghost pancakes.
...
Lexi is kinda obsessed with pancakes right now because of the book, If You Give A Pig A Pancake.
And every time she eats pancakes she says, " I'm sticky. I want need bath. Bubble bath."
You can guess where she go that idea from (the book).
...
Lexi is finally able to sit down and let me read her a whole book now.
Before she would want to hold the book and just look at the pictures but now she loves listening to me read. It's so fun to read to her. I want to run out and buy a whole library!
...
I decided to let Lexi run around in some Minnie Mouse under ware and a t-shirt today.
It's crash course potty training for us. We really don't know what we're doing.
So far Lexi hasn't actually used her little potty. She had one accident this morning in the dinning room.
I couldn't get to her fast enough because I was feeding Avery. Right now Lexi is napping.
She refused to use her potty before her nap and also refused to wear a diaper.
So we'll see what I find when I go wake her up.
September 2010
We got Lexi some new Fisher Price Little People sets. We got an amazing deal on Craig's List.
We got her a school bus, princess castle with a carriage and a ABC zoo.
Originally there were going to be her Christmas gifts but we didn't do a good enough job hiding them. Oh well. She loves them! And Avery loves watching her playing with them.
...
Recently Lexi got sick. The poor thing lived off of Popsicles and Pedialite for days.
She laid on an air mattress watching Elmo.
March 12, 2010
New Years Weekend (Dec 2011)
We went to Arizona for the weekend.
Lexi and her cousin Adalynn actually played together.
Every time they have been together before they haven't really been that interested in each other.
But they bonded over their love for all things princess and Barbie.
...
Lexi got her first pedicure.
Christmas 2011
We bought the movie the Grinch.
Lexi couldn't understand why the Grinch was so mean.
He upset her but in the end she ended up loving the movie.
December 2011
Lexi's artwork is starting to actually look recognizable.
She usually draws the nose below the mouth but her faces look like faces.
She draws hair straight up on top of peoples heads.
And if anyone has long hair she calls it Rapunzel hair.
...
Lexi is obsessed with doing Christmas crafts.
She keeps asking to do more.
We decorated a gingerbread house, strung popcorn to put on the tree,
made paper snowmen, painted ornaments for gifts, decorated a manger for baby Jesus and more.

My 3 year
old is already planning her wedding.
She
wants a pink bouquet, strawberry cake, Avery is going to be her bride's maid,
the brides' maids' dresses are going to be pink, and she wants to get married
in the Salt Lake Temple in the spring.
And
she wants to dance at her reception and get lots of presents and a ring.

Lexi:
"Mom are you pregnant?"
Me: "No."
Lexi: "Mom will you tell me when you have a baby?"
Me: "Yes."
Lexi: "Mom I want you to stop taking your pills. I want a baby."
October 2011
I just wanted to note that I get asked if my girls are twins several times a week.
I sometimes dress them alike but still there is a big size difference between the two!
...
Lexi started wearing stick on earrings and loves them!
...
Lexi got her hair cut into a cute bob.
I love it!
...
We went to the Balloon Fiesta this year.
We went on opening day and we at the park before the sun rose.
Lexi loved it all expect for the part when we told her she couldn't ride in one of the balloons.
That made her bawl.
Fall 2011
Both the girls got croup for the first time.
They didn't get it that bad but we still had to go to the doctor's several times.

Lexi had her first preschool field trip.
We went to
the state fair.
My girls
had never been before.
We had a
lot of fun. At first Lexi was upset. She is really, really shy and
gets
really, really stressed out sometimes when we are with big groups.
Eventually
she warmed up once we got to the petting zoo.
Eventually
we broke up into smaller groups.
We went
off with Evelyn and her daughter Tess.
We decided
to take the girls to the rides.
Lexi had
only been on a carousel before this.
I was
expecting her to be terrified of the roller coaster but she loved it.
I think it
really helped having Tess there.
The height
requirement for all the rides was 36 inches, which Lexi luckily met.
She was 36
inches at her 3 year check up.
...
Lexi went to the dentist for the second time.

Lexi has
20 teeth.
She (we)
need to be a little more diligent with our brushing and start flossing.
She was a little nervous and shy but did great.

At her
three year check up her stats where: 30 lbs (30%) and 36 1/2 inches (30%).
Her doctor
informed me that if Lexi remained in there percentiles that as an adult she
would be: 5'3 and 115 lbs. It's weird to think about her as an adult.
...
Lexi is
really shy around men. And for some reason she was really scared of the
missionaries in our ward. We recently got Elders. Lexi liked the Sisters
missionaries before them.
Anyway,
the "Elders" gave Lexi this back pack to try to win over Lexi.
It kinda
worked. She is doing a lot better with them which is great because they are now
over weekly with Sean's new calling as Ward Mission Leader.
...
Lexi's new
favorite show is Dora the Explorer. She is obsessed with maps now. She is
always asking me to draw her a map to the beach or somewhere random.
And at the
end of each Dora episode, Dora asks the kids what their favorite part is.
So now
whenever we do anything Lexi asks me what my favorite part was.
...
The other
day I changed Avery's diaper and when I was done Lexi told Avery,
" Go
forth and play."
...
Lexi's new favorite game is, "Guess Who?"

While we

She got so
much more comfortable in the pool.
Lexi will now jump into the pool, even in the deep end, without anyone there to catch her.
She is always wearing her floaty jacket thing.

The
Edgley's moved to Seattle.
I knew
Lexi would be so sad to see Jaylen go. He's her best friend. We saw him
everyday.
So we all
get together, the kids eat lunch and we hang out. It's awesome!
The night
we went to say goodbye, Lexi and Jaylen cuddled in bed together.
They
really do like each other but perhaps it's best we split them up before they
are teenagers.
Since
Jaylen has left Lexi has referred to him as her best friend and even been
quoting him.
...
Lexi loves
taking a bath but scared in the pool, well the big pool that is.
She LOVES
the kiddie pool where they can stand and touch the bottom.
Lexi did
swim lessons for the first time.
Lexi
learned to blow bubbles in the water, worked on her kicking,
even went
under the water for the first time and jumped into the pool.
And when I
first tried to get her to jump into the pool.
She did
not want to let go of my hands.
Jumping in
the pool was her favorite.
She want
to do it again and again.
And
eventually she let go of my hands and just jumped in.
May 2011
The pools opened for Memorial Day weekend.
We got Lexi this little life jacket thingy which she will wear
but you still have to hold onto her or she gets scared.
...
The Montgomery pool is less than 30 minute walk from our house,
and it has a kiddie pool. Which is wear Lexi always wants to be.

Lexi was
so excited for her dad's birthday.
While Sean
was at work we got ready.
Lexi
helped me make a big sign to put up on our living room wall.
And Lexi
wanted to look pretty for daddy's birthday.
So I dolled her all up.

Lexi
wanted Avery to model her new swimsuit and Avery was a good sport.

The girls had a lot of fun.
After Lexi
found all her eggs we just walked around the temple grounds.
When she
wasn't looking, Sean would grab an egg out of her basket
and hide
it right where we were walking.
Lexi got
really excited that she was finding more eggs. It was hilarious.
Eventually
she started suspecting that Sean was taking some of her eggs.
Once he
grabbed one and she asked him what he had in his hands,
he said
nothing and then threw the egg in front of us on the grass.
Lexi saw
the egg flying and said that the wind was hiding her eggs.
We all
just laughed.

Lexi was so excited to be the birthday girl's big sister
and help blow out the candle and help open presents.

We
rearranged our bedrooms today.
Before
Avery was in the bigger bedroom with us.
Now Sean
and I are in the smaller bedroom.
And the
girls are in the bigger room, which is great because
all of
their toys are in there with them!
The girls
have done AMAZING as roommates.
It makes
me wonder why I wanted so long.

Two
Sundays ago, Lexi started throwing up in the middle of the night.
She threw
up ALL Sunday and had a really high fever.
We were
starting to get REALLY worried that she'd have to go to the hospital for
dehydration.
She
couldn't even keep liquids down.
Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday, she went back and forth
between
having diarrhea and throwing up.
Sunday and
Monday, it seemed that Lexi had NO life left in her. She didn't talk much.
She didn't
move much. It was SO unlike her.
But slowly
she got more energy.
And as of
last Thursday she has been able hold down her food.

Lexi went to the dentist for the first time ever.
And she did great.
She was so excited to go to the dentist like Mommy.
The hygienist was awesome!
She let Lexi see all of the equipment and she even painted Lexi's nails with a special nail polish.
Lexi still sucks on her fingers and so this should help.
Every time she sticks her fingers in her mouth now she gags. I think this stuff might do the trick!
Lexi did get a little scared when Dr. David Martinez came to look at her.
But he was AWESOME and asked to count her "Princess Teeth."
I'm so happy she had such a good experience.
Lexi was so excited because she got a Cinderella sticker and pink floss and a pink tooth brush.
And they even let her take home a tooth brush for Avery.
And I'm so happy because LEXI HAS NO CAVITIES!

It recently snowed. It wasn't much though, a few inches.
I took Lexi out to play in it before Avery woke up. She loved it!
We only stayed outside for 25 minutes, but that was enough.

Today scissors touch Alexia's hair for the first.
I've known that she needed a haircut for awhile now but it was a bit of an emotional thing for me.
Anyway, she did great! She got about 1 1/2 - 2 inches cut off the back of her hair
and the sides were barely trimmed. It looks so much better!
And she seems so much older to me now.
January 5, 2011
Avery has been up on her hands and knees for months but didn't start crawling until Christmas.
Every day since then she has been crawling a little more.
Two days ago, she crawled across the living room and down the hall and into the bathroom where I was getting ready for the day. When she got to me she pulled on my pants leg.
Yesterday, she crawled down the hall and into Lexi's room. Then the girls played in the play kitchen together. It was so precious. And today, Avery kept crawling into the dinning room trying to get Lexi's potty. She even made her way under the dinning room table.

For New Year's Eve we went out to eat at Sadie's.
The lady at the table next to us wouldn't stop talking to us about our girls.
She kept telling us who beautiful they are. We're used to this happening a lot.
After dinner we went home and just let the kids play.
They ended up going to bed just before 10pm Mountain Standard Time,
which is nearly 12pm East Coast Time. So they almost had an East Coast New Years.
Us parents went to bed a little after 10.
We kind of have a tradition in our family of going to bed before midnight.
December 25, 2010
Lexi decided to wake up at 7 (an hour earlier than normal) and as soon as I told her it was Christmas
she popped out of bed and ran into the living room straight to her stocking.
She was so excited to find that Santa had left her Smarties and not candy canes.
Lexi LOVED opening all the presents for us.
Lexi was so excited to get some slippers just like I did.
Lexi was also excited to wear her Princess shoes and PJ's.
Princesses are officially her new thing.
We got Lexi this kitchen/tea set. We knew she would love it.
Lexi was SOOO excited to have a tea set like on Beauty and the Beast.
Now she can have tea parties.
December 24, 2010
Lexi excited for it to finally be Christmas Eve.
Lexi was so excited to eat the pie that she and I made together.
We sang Christmas songs together.
As we read the Christmas story from the New Testament, Lexi layed out the characters.
...
We dressed up like the nativity scene.
This was really fun for Lexi to do and I think will become a new tradition for our family.
December 2010
Last weekend, we had our first visitors since we moved to Albuquerque, my aunt Lisa and her family. They came for the New Mexico Bowl.
Lisa wanted to get lots of pictures with my girls to make my mom jealous.
I think Lexi's favorite part about the weekend was when we went swimming at the hotel pool.
Friday afternoon, there was a pep rally put on by the by bowl.
It wasn't very well publicized and is was so cold that weekend so there wasn't a great turn out.
So we were dancing trying to keep ourselves warm while we waited for the pep rally to start.
Lexi was having a great time dancing and watching the cheerleaders until Cosmo, the BYU mascot.
He TERRIFIED her! Seriously, she wouldn't stop screaming!

I took the girls to the mall to meet Santa.
I was expecting Lexi to be shy and to refuse to sit on his lap and Avery to just cry.
But my girls surprised me and there were no tears or fighting.
Lexi was a little shy but it helped her to see other kids sit on Santa's lap too.
Also the fact that Santa looks like her grandpa helped.
Also, Santa gave each girl a coloring book aka Lexi got two coloring books. So she was really excited.
Thanksgiving Week 2010
We went to Payson, Arizona.
Our last day we woke up to snow. The kids had fun playing in it.
Devin taught Lexi to eat the snow, which she loved until her hands were freezing.
October 31, 2010
Avery is the team mascot and Lexi is the team cheerleader.
Lexi got really good at saying, "Go team, go!"
Last week, "we" carved pumpkins. Lexi refused to touch the pumpkin guts just like last year.
Lexi like stirring the seeds in a bowl though.
Sean did a good job. He did Sesame Street's Elmo and Bert.
October 29, 1010
Today was Avery's 6 month check-up. Lexi decided to wear her scrubs to the appointment
and help the staff out. She helped check Avery's temperature and blood pressure
and listened to her heart with her toy doctor tools.
...
We went to our ward Halloween party tonight.
Lexi got her face painted for the first time.
Sean took Lexi Trunk-or-Treating to all the other trunks.
Lexi is so shy in public. Sean told me that in the beginning she would quietly say, "Trick-or-Treat" but stopped because she realized people wearing handing out candy anyway.
Lexi stayed up hours passed her bedtime on a sugar high.
She was so excited to get lots of candy!
October 2010
Lexi cracks me up daily.
Her journal is always close by now so I jot down all the funny stuff that comes out of her mouth.
-Last week, I told Lexi that she had five more minutes until nap time.
She looked at me and said, "I'm checking my email."
-We have music channels with our cable package. We were listening to the toddler music channel
and the song "High-Ho" from Snow White (Lexi isn't familiar with the movie) came on.
Lexi looked at me and said, "I no like this noise."
-This morning Lexi put one of her baby dolls into a doll car seat and said, "Baby go to hospital."
I didn't think she even knew what a hospital was! So I told her that when mommies are pregnant (when there is a baby inside their belly) they go to the hospital and then babies are born (the come outside of their mommy's tummy). Lexi thought about that for a minute and then she put her Lion up her shirt and then pulled him out and said, "Lion born."
-Today she came up to me while I was in the bathroom getting ready and said, "I need nursing cover for my boobs cause I'm a Mommy." When I was done I gave her one of my nursing covers and she pretended to nurse. While she was nursing she kept saying, "I'm a Mommy." Then she told me, "I need nursing pads for my boobs." So I gave her some and she put them up her shirt and has been wearing them since! It's been over an hour. It's so funny to see a two year old with a stuffed shirt.
...
We recently went with my friend Tiffany and her kids down to the UNM campus to go see,
Click Clack Moo. It was a short musical based on the childrens' book.
I have never taken Lexi to the movie or any sort of play.
I wasn't sure how my girls would do but they both did great!
We had to ride a shuttle from the parking lot to the theater and Lexi was SOOO excited to ride the bus.
We went to the River of Lights at the Bio Park in downtown Albuquerque.
Lexi loved it! Lexi just wanted to run around and touch every single light.
It was such a fun night (Lexi keeps talking about it) and it is definitely a new family tradition for us.
...

It was her
first time. I think it was a little old for Lexi but she like the music and
dancing none the less.

October 1, 2010
We gave
Lexi her first Oreo.
She
doesn't eat chocolate very often (she is hyper enough without the sugar) so
this was fun for her.
She loved
the frosting.
