December 2018 - Sam's Foot Surgery

Well I had to get surgery on my foot because of it in December.
You can see in this next picture a bump on the inside of my right foot.
That's the extra little bone that I was born with that was dislodged in the scooter crash.
I had it removed and my tendon repaired.
(You'll also notice my big scar from when I injured my foot at fourth grade pioneer day.
This year has been rough on my right foot.)

The night before my surgery, Ty started throwing up.
And I wasn't feeling the best either. I was so worried that I'd get sick and have to cancel my surgery.
Also, I found out that the friends I had arranged to watch my kids couldn't anymore.
I was stressing out big time.
Sean and our friend David gave me a blessing. Everything worked out.
I found someone new to watch my kids and Ty and I were feeling better the next morning.
But we decided to keep Ty with us that day.
Here's me and Ty in the waiting room.

Here I am all prepped and ready to go.
I had a good experience at the surgical center here in town.
I really like my doctor too.
And surprisingly, I wasn't too hungry that morning even though I was fasting.
(I usually get so hangry so fast!)

Here I am saying goodbye to my baby.

Luckily Ty slept while I was getting surgery.
After I woke up, I remember being so sleeping.
I just kept telling Sean and the nurse to let me lay back down.
I had no interest in getting up and getting dressed and going home.

Here I am the morning after my surgery.
I was feeling surprisingly well.
My friend Angie took my three older kids for the entire day.

Our friends Buck and Aubrey came over and spent the day with us.
They brought us Cafe Rio and recovery gifts for me.
We played Settlers of Catan and had a great afternoon together.

Day two post op was rough!
I felt awful that day. The Percocet made me so sick!

Here I am day three post op.
I went off the Percocet that day and started feeling better.

That day I also had my first post op appointment.
That week my foot doctor had just switched offices. They moved to the second floor.
And the elevator stopped working as soon as I got there.
And of course I couldn't take the stairs!
The maintenance guys offered to carry me up the stairs
but luckily they were able to fix the elevator ASAP.

I got my first look at my foot since my surgery.

I borrowed a knee scooter from a friend and it was a life saver!
It made it so much easier to get around (when Ty wasn't on it).

Sean and I needed to do a little bit of last minute Christmas shopping.
So I went to Walmart once the week after my surgery.
But other than that, I didn't leave my house for month, other than to church and the doctors.

October 2018 - Sam's Injured Foot

Sunday October 14th, it was a sunny warm day.
After dinner I told my family that I wanted to go for a family walk.
Eli was whining and telling me that he didn't want to go.
So I grabbed his razor scooter.
I got on it and started going across the driveway.
I turned to look at Eli who was standing in the garage.
I told him he could ride his scooter and it would be fun.
When I turned my head to see where I was going, I saw Lexi in front of me.
I quickly turned the scooter and went into the grass which caused the scooter to stop quickly.
The bottom of the scooter swung around and hit the outside of my right foot.
It knocked me over instantly.
Sean opened the front door just in time to see me fall over.
He and I both instantly knew that I had really hurt my foot.
I couldn't stand up and put any weight on it at all.
That night we iced it, I took Ibuprofen, I kept my foot elevated and we wrapped it.
Sean went and got crutches from our neighbor for me to borrow.

The next day we went to a foot doctor.

He tole me that I sprained my foot and would need to wear a walking boot for a few weeks.
And then I'd have a follow up in three weeks.
I couldn't believe how lucky I was!

The walking boot drove me crazy and it was hard for me to sit with my foot elevated.

After a week and a half, I started weaning myself from my boot.
The spot I sprained on the outside of my foot was feeling pretty good.
But the inside of my foot was hurt and burning and there was a bump.
At my next appointment, I had another x-ray taken of my foot.
It turns out that I was born with an extra bone in my foot that is completely useless.
It's a pretty rare thing. Anyway, that bone was dislodged in the crash and is now sticking out of foot.
And it's rubbing against my tendon, which is why my foot was burning.
They doctor gave me some anti-inflammatory medicine.
He was hoping that some of the bump would go down. It didn't.
I had a follow up three weeks later.
We decided to do surgery to remove the bone and repair the tendon.

July 3rd 2018 - Sam's Birthday and New Silhouette

I turned 32 on the 3rd of July.

I got a Silhouette Cameo 3 for my birthday. Something that I've been wanting for years.
I was so excited!

My whole family was so excited. I can do so many things with  my Silhouette.
I can cut paper.

And it can draw things with special pens.

My friend Court is the vinyl master.
She came over one day and helped me make some vinyl for my living room walls.

I made vinyl for the kids' back to school supplies.

And I made vinyl for the bedroom doors.

Court came another day and helped me learn how to use heat transfer vinyl.
We made shirts for my kids.
They were so excited.

May 2018 - Picture Post

And here are a lot of pictures from the rest of May...
I did my make up one and apparently that was reason enough to celebrate with some selfies.

Avery with her friends Reagan and Victoria.

Lexi and Avery. I love torturing these two by always trying to get pictures of them together.

Here's the girls wearing the Harry Potter shirts that our neighbor gave them.

Here's Avery modeling her new fake glasses.

We went to the school's art night.

I went to Avery's class to watch her present her panda animal report.

In fourth grade, kids learn about Utah state history. Each kid had to make a diorama.

The fourth grade put on a special night.
We got to see all the dioramas and listen to the kids sing and watch them dance.

Lexi and Avery both did a session of swim lessons. They were in the same class and both did great.
They both improved so much.

Here's some pictures of my cute Eli.

I love seeing these two brothers together.

Here's Eli on his last day of preschool.

Eli and I went to a special Luau at Eli's school for the kids and their moms.

Eli graduated from preschool in May.
His teacher rented a little church for the ceremony and had the cutest program.
I loved the caps and gowns!

I can only say good things about Miss Patressa. She's amazing!
Eli loved her and she loved Eli.
I am so excited that she's going to be Ruby's teacher next year.

And a post wouldn't be complete without some sleeping Ruby pictures.

Next up is Ty Guy.

This little guy is so curious. He gets into everything he can.

He discovered the joys of the trash can.

Here he is playing with an onion that he found.

Here he is playing with Joshua (Lexi's best friend's little brother).

Teething is the worst! We had a lot of sleepless nights and hard days.

Horribly quality picture but it shows just how loving and nurturing Avery is with Ty.

Avery and Ty had their check ups together.

More Ty pictures. Because I cannot get enough.

This was left on my porch one night for me.

We celebrated Mother's Day. Which means we attempted to get some pictures together before church.

And the kids surprised me with things they had made.

And we celebrated Sean's 33rd birthday.

The kids were so excited to get him an ant farm.

I volunteered at the fourth grade pioneer day activity.
The kids were put into groups and rotated through different pioneer type activities.
Lexi was put in the same group as her best friend Carrie.

See that chain link fence behind Lexi,
I walked into it when I was trying to take a picture and I sliced the top of my foot.

Lexi's teacher Mrs. Durfee super glued my foot shut.
I had never done anything like that before but I really didn't want to go to the doctors and get stitches.

The neighbor who lives behind us is my friend Vennice and her family.
Vennice's aunt passed away. She was named after her aunt and practically raised by her so they were very close. Vennice was really struggling with her passing. So I wanted to do something to comfort her. In April we bought some memorial trees for us and I though Vennice would like one too.
So I asked a few people on her street and friends of hers in the ward to donate.
I was able to easily raise several hundreds of dollars. When I went to her house to tell her what we were doing for her she bawled. Her husband Ben was touched too. I told them that we raised enough money to buy a tree in honor of Vennice's aunt and Ben's brother who had passed away a few years ago. A few days later I took Vennice to the nursery and amazingly we were able buy three trees because two of the trees were cheaper. A few hours after we came home from the nursery, one of Vennice's best friends passed away. So we had a tree already ready to honor her. It was like it was meant to be. That night as Sean and Ben and several young men helped plant the trees in their backyard, Vennice watched from her window bawling. She was so touched. It felt so good to do something for someone else and forget about my own grief and pain.

You can see the Robinson's three new trees over our back fence.

Here's Lexi and Avery on the last day of school.

Here's some pictures I took in our backyard in May.
That's when it's the best time of year to be outside.

Here's the kids having a picnic lunch with our neighbors Hadlie and Easton.

We bought two butterfly bushes. Ruby and I planted them.

Sean started filling our boxes with flowers.

And we planted veggies in our gardens.

On  May 25th, we celebrated Ruby's Half Birthday.
