Allergies?

For a while now Lexi has been sneezing a lot and having itchy, watery eyes.
Especially in the mornings.
Finally on Thursday I bought her some over-the-counter generic Zyrtec.
She will take 1/2 teaspoon and it will last her for 24 hours.
So I gave her her first dose on Thursday at dinner (around 5 pm).
Friday morning when she woke up she had none of her usually irritations.
No sneezing. No snot. No watery eyes.
She had no complains all day on Friday.
Friday night I forgot to give her her Zyrtec at dinner than we headed to an elementary school
by our house and let the girls play at the playground.
This particular school had hundreds of dandelions.
My girls were in heaven!
Lexi made bouquets of her "wedding flowers."
When we got home Lexi's eye was HUGE!
Take a look for yourself...

Notice that gash on the side of her eye?
She got that on Thursday when she was running around and being wild
and then running into the kitchen counter top.
So, when her eyes got huge,
I wondered if it was a delayed reaction to hitting her eye or if it was allergies.
I gave her her Zyrtec and then a cold compress.
Friday night Lexi was up for hours with Sean.
She was crying and saying she couldn't close her eyes and she couldn't stop touching her eye.
She woke up this morning looking like this...

I had no idea what to think!
Could this really be allergies???
Sean read online that allergies can cause pink eye.
So I quickly made an appointment for her to go see the pediatrician today.
Sean took her to her appointment since today was her date day.
Well it turns out she really just does have allergies.
Her eyes are just so irritated from her touching them so much.
So Sean got her some over-the-counter eye drops.
I hope that her eyes go back to normal soon. Poor girl.
...
These pictures reminded me of the time Lexi hurt her eye in Albuquerque.

  1. Oh yikes! Poor thing...she looks miserable. Addie gets allergies too. One year I took her in because it looked like she had two black eyes. Apparently that is normal and kids with allergies sometimes get "shiner."
