At the beginning of April I decided that I was going to tackle an outdoor project by myself.
We decided to lay bark or mulch, whatever you want to call it, in the borders of our yard.
I was so excited because I knew this would be an easy way to make a big impact.
Ruby and I went and bought 20 bags to start with.
After that Sean and David went and got two truck loads.
I believe the first one was 40 bags and the second one was 30.
I used it all. And I actually think I will end up getting more.
Our trampoline is almost 4 years old and the net is ripped and the pole pads were nasty.
So we decided that we will have no net this year.
I believe I laid 28 bags of bark under the trampoline.
It looks much better now. And we won't have weeds growing crazy anymore.
Here's what the trampoline looked like with a few daffodils.
We bought two trellises to have clematis grow up.
And we bought some plants for our two stock tanks.
And we planted a little every green tree and
moved the flamingos and some rocks that were already in our yard.
Our yard is starting to look landscaped and almost finished!
Look at the flowers bloom around the Honeylocust tree between our shed and trampoline.
Of course we got one freak day of snow after our bulbs bloomed. It didn't last luckily.
Sean made two little boxes for the clematis to grow in.
We decided that the benches don't fit there now. We were given them from a neighbor
and just put them in that spot because we had nothing else there.
In the big box Lexi and I planted dahilas. Lexi actually really loves planting and flowers.
Here's the bulbs that we bought at Costco. I can't wait for them to bloom.
Here's the evolution of the bulbs around the maple tree in front of the stock tanks.
In this picture you can see our two new hydrangea plants.
Those actually ended up in our front yard and we planted two azaleas there instead.
Here's what the azaleas look like planted in the stock tanks.
Here's the other side of our back fence.
We added a little evergreen tree there and some cute little bunny statues that I got at Ross.
I found some pinwheels that I bought years ago and never used.
I love that we planted several trees in our backyard.
Not only are the beautiful but they give us lots more area to plant bulbs in.
And here's the little grass area between our play area and garden .
I really trimmed back the roses early this spring and our roses did so well this year.
We planted this Honeylocust tree in front of the swing last summer.
I'm so glad that we added it.
And here's some pictures from our front yard.
Last fall Sean planted crisis and daffodils.
We finally cut out all the grass around our utility boxes.
We planned to plant roses and other flowers.
Sean also planted hyacinth.
We planted this Redbud tree last fall.
We finally took down our Christmas lights in April.
And the roses for our front yard came.
