Avery's 7th Birthday

Sean and I were so worried that I'd have the baby on Avery's birthday
or that I'd be in labor or just in the hospital that day.
We did not want her to feel forgotten.
...
The night before her birthday, Sean decorated the great room.
We wanted her to feel extra special this year.

Before school she got to open one present.

She got a new shirt with a birthday pin to wear to school.

Her dad just bought everything he thought she'd like at the dollar store.

As soon as she got home from school she was ready to open another present.

She got a Gyffindor uniform for her doll.
Ginny Weasley is her favorite H.P. character so this outfit was perfect for her redheaded doll.

Sean thought he'd be funny and put a candle in a boiled egg for her afternoon snack.

A few hours later we let her open her next present.
She got an MP3 player (if that's what they're still called).
Avery LOVES music. She ALWAYS wants to have it playing.
She treats me like her own personal DJ most days.

Her next gift was four unicorn magic books in one.
I love giving my kids books.

That night for dinner she had asked me to make homemade mac-n-cheese.
When she saw dinner she was upset at first because what she had meant was Kraft mac-n-cheese.
But she was a good sport about the mix up.
And for dessert she wanted brownies and strawberry ice cream.
(She's not a fan of cake, just like her dad.)

One of the best parts of Avery's birthday was a surprise.
My parents and brother showed up just in time for dinner.
(I had told the kids that they were coming on my due date, two days after Avery's birthday.)
That afternoon, I told Avery that her last present still needed to be delivered.
I told her that it was three presents in one.
When the door bell rang, she thought it was the mail man delivering a package.
She was so surprised. All the kids were.
...
Here's Avery with my dad at the end of the night. She loves cuddling with grandpa.

The next day my parents took Avery shopping for her birthday presents.
They said she could pick out whatever she wanted.
She got a horse and rain gear for her doll.
She was so excited.

I can't believe that my second oldest is seven!
