Today was Lexi's first day of Kindergarten.
Last night we set out her backpack, homework (this bear I was to help cut out and decorate),
a present for her teacher and a sign to hold and take pictures with.
Here's the present we made.
I made this up in Photoshop and then Lexi and I painted the frame together.
This morning we went outside and I took pictures.
Is anyone surprised?
I found this cute sign on Pinterest (where else?!) and then Lexi and I paint this frame.
Then after taking all those pictures, Lexi decided that she didn't want pigtails anymore.
She wanted messy buns instead.
So that meant we had to go outside and get more pictures.
I didn't mind though.
Candid pictures of Lexi twirling.
I did this for Lexi last year too.
Then it was finally time to head to school!
Waiting for afternoon kindergarten was difficult.
We got there 20 minutes early so we could take pictures and play on the kindergarten playground.
Lexi with Janessa and Jenna from her primary class in our old ward.
They were excited to be in the same kindergarten class.
Lexi with Mrs. Asay.
Then it was finally time to line up.
Avery tried to get in the line several times.
She wanted to go too.
At one point right before they were about to leave Lexi got a little emotional.
I could see that she was scared and getting teary eyed.
I just wanted to hold her and cry but I was brave so she would be.
After Lexi left, Avery started crying and saying repeatably, "I miss Lexi."
That made me cry.
I held Avery and we both cried.
Eli started crying too but that's because he was tired.
During Kindergarten, Eli napped and Avery and I looked at pictures of Lexi and played.
On Fridays, kindergarten is only two hours long so before we knew it, it was time to go pick up Lexi.
Here's a video I took of Avery while we were waiting in the car to pick up Lexi.
He's Lexi coming out of school, all done for the day.
And I here's Lexi telling me about her first day.
Lexi told me she had so much fun and loved kindergarten!
I was so relieved to hear that.
I was so relieved to hear that.
To celebrate we went to Jamba Juice.
And that totally hit the spot since it was 95 today and sunny.
Avery starts preschool on Tuesday.
That will be an emotional day for me too.
