As Lexi's birthday party was ending, she took a few friends out to the bunny pen
to show them her bunnies.
It was a really hot day and Lexi was concerned so we brought the bunnies inside.
Honestly, Neville was pretty lethargic that morning before the party.
But I just thought it must be because of the heat.
Our bunnies are always less active in the middle of the day when it's hotter.
Arthur and Cedric seemed fine but Neville didn't liven up.
We started getting concerned.

We started getting concerned.
He wouldn't move at all.
We had to bring a dropper to his mouth to try to get him to drink.
We read online about heat stroke in bunnies and honestly thought that was what he had.

Lexi and Parker made it their personal mission to keep track of his vitals.
They had charts and were tracking his movements
and trying to track his breaths per minute and heart rate.
Just before the kids went to sleep, Neville passed away.
Lexi was devastated.
And I was heartbroken for her.
First thing the next morning, we had a funeral.
I don't believe that Michelle's kids have had a lot of exposure to death,
so I was a little worried how they'd handle everything.
They were sad but did good.
All the kids said something nice about Neville.
Michelle's kids were actually with us the day we got Neville and Cedric.
In fact, Parker held him the whole drive home.
Then everyone helped bury him.
Then it was time to leave for the Christensen Family Reunion.
More on that in my next post.
